Balancing work and family is tough enough without trying to squeeze in a round of golf. Why not take the kids! There's no better way of enjoying your favourite sport while spending quality time with the family. You can improve your game and the relationship with your kids.

Take A KidTo help introduce families to the game of golf, the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada is bringing back "Take-a-Kid-to-the Course-Week", July 2nd - 7th. "The week was a huge success in previous years, with over 1000 participating kids in 2001," says Jeff Calderwood, Executive Director, NGCOA Canada. "We knew we had to bring it back again this year."

The participating courses have the facilities, programs and pros to make it easy to get you and your kids out on the course. They will offer a variety of incentives including discounted or complimentary golf clinics, food & beverage promotions, discounted club rentals for kids, free range balls, specials on green fees and much more. Parents are encouraged to call the participating courses for details. Look for a full listing of participating courses in the Ottawa Citizen in the coming weeks.

Take-a-Kid-to-the-Course-Week is guaranteed to be a friendly and inviting way of introducing your kids to the game you love so much. "Golf is a great way to help kids learn valuable life skills while being active and having fun," says Calderwood. "Once they try it, they usually end up loving the sport."

At the end of the week, one lucky winner will be the proud owner of a set of TOPFLITE Junior golf clubs, 3 golf lessons for 2 and 4 green fees at one of the participating courses of their choice. They will also have their name and picture published in the Ottawa Citizen. To be eligible for the grand prize, participants must fill out a ballot found in the Ottawa Citizen or at participating golf courses.
